anyway, "RED Day" was made i think by the FAST(CLA) BAs.. (or kung hindi CLA, COS ata)
wearing Red means that you are against the free day being transferred to Monday(which is currently Friday)..
actually, they also have distributed signup sheets, a signature campaign, in which students will sign if they are for or AGAINST the said proposal..
honestly for me talaga feeling ko walang silbi din yung signature campaign and wearing red, kasi feeling ko wala naman epekto sa admin yun at wala sila pakialam dun..
(*pero still i signed and wear red.. wahahahah)
there are lots of arguments the are compiled by the SC, why Monday should not be the Free day..
today there will be a student-admin forum sa yuchengco..
iniisip ko nga kung pupunta ako dun,
kaso me pasok kasi ako ng 1-230 eh 1-430 daw yun..
eh,sabi kung pupunta ka daw dapat the whole session pumunta ka..
bahala na..
kasi i really want to know the arguments and opinions of both side.. the-student and the admin..
anyway, here is the update from Aimee Chua, VP Acads, DLSU-SC, regarding the issue as of Oct 15
Dear everyone,
The Vice Chancellor for Academics' Council met early this morning and they still decided to uphold the recommendation of the Enrollment Committee to move the free day to Monday, and will be endorsed to President's Council for final review/decision on Friday 2pm.
What Nicole [Villarojo, SC President] and I will be doing tomorrow is to talk to the members of the council to convince them one last time. Trust us that we will do our best on this.
Comments on our proposal:
1. To account for those holidays by adding extra days in academic calendar: this is one of the most feasible options left that we can ask the president's council to reconsider
2. if they still want to transfer the free day, please Defer implementation until further research: deans did not like this proposal coz they need to make a decision ASAP
3. If they still want to move the free day, move the ubreak to wed or thurs 1-230pm: Currently, classroom utilization rate is already at 93% so if we still squeeze the ubreak in our hectic schedules, classes might end up later than the current schedule.
So what Nicole and I will be bargaining with the admin tomorrow is to stick to the status quo and just ask the registrars to monitor and ensure that faculty members will conduct make up classes for those days affected by holidays.
Moving the free day will:
1. affect activities inside school in general, and we will not provide students with an environment that would encourage participation in activities.
2. for groupworks and thesis, it is more conducive to have overnights on thurs to friday to sat with the current system, than meeting on sat then break on sunday then meet again on monday.
3. We have already adjusted to the current sched and it is better to start the week with work than meetings or activities.
These will be our main arguments.
To the LA authors of the memorandum regarding UBREAK, sir Voc needs to meet with you to provide you an update with your letter.
Next time, since I am the student rep in [the] enrollment committee, kindly consult me first before sending out memo to members of enrollment committee or any administrators. The administrators did not like what you did.
For other efforts on this issue, kindly talk to me first before making any actions. You might be worsening the situation without your knowledge. I know you have good intentions, but please please consult me first. We don't want to make this worse.
Best,
//ill be posting some more updates as soon as i get infos mula sa aking mga spies.. hehe.. :P
