CCS: The UNHAPPIEST College in DLSU?! @_@

so bali nagsurvey ang The Lasallian ng 240 students from the 6 colleges kung sino yung happiest college sa Lasalle..

(*all came from the January Issue[Vol XLVIII Issue No. VIII] ng Menagarie ng The Lasallian)
**kakalabas lang siya nung saturday... so more likely some of you didnt read about it pa..

So, here yung nakuha nilang satisfaction rating for the following at yung mga comments ko on each item..
basta ill comment dun sa mga CCS na ratings..
(*all arranged from highest to lowest satifaction)

1st - Services
 1.CED
2.CBE
3.COS
4.CLA
5.CCS
6.COE

~ i dont know kung kelan nila ito ginawa (yung survey)..
pero kasi di ba iniba na rin halos lahat ng computers ngaun sa gox..
sa G304 A&B kakapalit lang din ng comp.. aka.. FLATSCREENS na WIDESCREENS na Acer.. @_@
inaayos na rin ngaun yung mini canteen(actually yung huling kita ko medyo patapos na sila, meron na mga tables)
still, these things siguro are not enough pa rin...

pwede siguro ang gawin nila,
1. pabilisin nila internet at wifi sa gox..
2. gawin nilang aircon ang gox lobby.. hehe.. :P
3. ayusin nila lahat ng projectors sa gox.. hindi ayusin.. PALITAN..

naalala ko tuloy yung IST comp lab namin sa me SJ..
as in buong university ata nagpalit na ng computers..
tapos kami yung dati pa rin na PCs..
sabi kasi nila dati kinaiingitan daw ng buong Lasalle yung comp lab namin kasi dun lang me speaker, CD-ROM, color printer, scanner, webcam at iba pa..
sabi ng mga nagbabantay sa comp lab namin, ayaw daw palitan ng lasalle yung comp lab namin kasi wala pa daw mga bagong programs..
mayaman kasi lasalle, original na CDs binibili nila..
magkano pa naman mga CDs ngaun.. yung Master Collection ng Adobe CS4 umaabot daw ng 50k+ yung isang CD..
eh 20 PCs yun.. so mga P1million lang naman for programs?!
baka maya graduate na kami hindi pa namin yun magamit man lang.. baka meron ng Adobe CS10 wala pa rin yun.. >_<

speaking also of gox lobby..
parati din bumabaha sa gox lobby, the fact na inaayos na siya..
kasi daw gox lobby is the lowest point sa buong lasalle..
actually, balak daw nila irenovate yun, as in pataasin..
ang balak ata nila, kalahati ng first floor yung dapat itaas kaso ang problem nun pagginawa nila yun, kailangan lahat ng floors itaas nila..
kaso ang problema hindi nila pwede pataasin yung buong gox kasi nandun yung main server ng buong university
at pagginawa nila yun, parang tinanggalan nila ng "utak" ang buong university.. so hindi rin pwede..



2nd - Professors

~regarding naman sa professors, nasa third naman tayu pero it doesnt mean na satisfied nga tayu sa kanilang lahat...
sabi ni Doc Lloyd nagconduct siya ngaun ng Transformative Learning Seminar sa buong faculty ng CCS..
kasi si Doc Lloyd, siya daw ang "black sheep" ng buong faculty ng CCS, kasi naiinis yung mga ibang profs sa kanya kasi siya lang yung prof na hindi nagbibigay ng exams kasi wala daw kwenta yun.. O_o
kaya wag daw magulat yung mga tao pagbiglang nagbago ang buong CCS regarding sa pagtuturo ng mga profs, especially next school year..

kausap din namin si Sir Raffy nung isang araw..
baka magbago nga daw yung approach ng mga profs pagdating next school year especially with COMPRO1
bali ang balak daw nila imbis na C Programming agad, papagamitin muna daw sila ng software na SCRATCH
yung Scratch kasi parang siyang ALICE, kaso ang Scratch 2D, not like Alice na 3D
so dun pwede ka gumawa ng sarili mong animation o kaya game
kasi daw from a highschool na fully graphical interface to a black-and-white C programming parang me gap nga daw..
ewan ko pa kung ano pa balak nila next school year..

yung iba naman prof talaga kasi hindi mo talaga maintindihan pano magturo, meron naman ok.. meron ding super talino.. pero makikita mo talaga yung mga prof na ang tinuturuan ata nila yung sarili nila.. lalo na yung iba na mahilig magsabi ng "UY!" at HINDI MARUNONG GUMAMIT NG COLORS NG POWERPOINT! bwahahahahaha.. @_@

me dagdag pa dun sa article..

~as all of you know tayu yung "COLLEGE THAT NEVER SLEEPS"...
so far yung record ko is 52 Hours na gising.. that is roughly 2 days staright gising doing OBJECT MP nung 1st term at yung INTRODB Database nung 2nd term both this school year.. (*thanks to Extra Joss :))

Hindi naman din yun result ng cramming,eh..
kasi ito din nakikita kong problema sa mga MPs.. *MP nga pala is Machine Project.. gagawa ka ng software(computer program).. bibigay nila yung specs ng maaga, kaso hindi mo rin pwede simulan agad kasi tinuturo yung mga importante na parts pagmalapit na yung deadline..meron din mga ibang prof diyan na magdadagdag pa ng specs pagmedyo malapit na yung deadline kaya tuloy gulo-gulo, tapos yung gusto nila ng mangyari hindi nila sasabihin sa iyo, tapos tuloy babawasan ka pa pagdating ng presentation.. kaya tuloy mababa grade.. grrrhhh...

another problem transformative learning DAW.. kaya for example sa OBJECTP at INTRODB at iba pa.. hindi ka nila tuturuan pano magcode, kailangan pa magself-study.. yun yung times din na namimiss ko yung COMPRO times..
syempre pano naman yung mga tao katulad ko na walang programming background nung highschool?! dedoks na..

isa pang malala sa CCS is yung MATH subjects, especially Calculus(ANMATH for higher batch)..
as in kahit yung matatalino na bumabagsak pa dahil sa mga yan.. PAHAMAK talaga sila..
hindi ko talaga maintindihan kung para saan ba ang CCSCAL at ano application nun sa other subjects mo
lalo na kami.. anong silbi ng Calculus sa IST.. HELLO WORLD?!
siguro wala naman gagawa na IST student ng isang instructional software na tungkol sa calc, except siguro kung NERD siya..
even yung Trig nga, isa pa yun.. yung Alge siguro pwede pa..



4th - Jobs
1.CBE (85.4%)

~regarding naman sa jobs, naglolokohan nga yung iba, baka maya aral aral kayu diyan ng CS pero babagsak lang din kayu sa pagiging call center agent... ako nga rin iniisip ko kung ano magiging career ko paggraduate.. iniisip ko kasi nung una gusto ko ng animation, katulad sa PIxar.. o kaya magturo, kaso gusto ko naman preschool lang(i love to teach younger kids than older ones) o kaya iniisip ko nga rin baka icareer ko na lang yung photography kaso medyo magastos naman siya.. pero iniisip ko rin ill end up teaching people for social purposes, like katulad sa Smart, meron silang team na gumagamit ng interactive na multimedia to teach out of school youth.. yung mga ganun..

pero so far naman graduates of CCS go to big companies.. dapat lang kasi CCS has the best ComSci in the whole Philippines.. that is according to them.. totoo nga ba?!




5th - Organizations

~nako i think medyo challenge ito sa LSCS kasi they are the only organization sa CCS... like sabi nung isang guy sa article, "activities are just repeats of previous years" kailangan magtrabaho pa ng mas mabuti at mas madaming bagong activities ang maimplement next school year..
nakakatuwa nga rin yung results dun sa CED.. kasi kakastart lang ng UNITED, which is the only org sa CED na nagstart this school year pero mataas agad ratings nila. or siguro dahil bago nga lang siya, kaya hindi pa nararanasan yung so called "repeats"... pero overall naman ok naman yung LSCS for this school year..



6th - Free Time
1.CBE
2.CED
3.CLA
4.CCS
 5.COE
6.COS

~sa tingin ko naman meron pa ring free time sa CCS.. especially pagstart ng term..
kaso nagstastart ang hell weeks sa CCS siguro after midterms kung saan simula na ang gawaan ng mga MPs..
lalo na pagpalapit ng palapit na yung finals week kung saan palapit din ng palapit ang mga deadlines




so based sa lahat ng mga yan..
the RESULT is... (all arranged from the happiest to the most unhappy college)
 1. CBE- the happiest college

3. COS

5. CLA
6. CCS- the unhappiest college!!!

according to the article, "CCS was tallied as the unhappiest college. In no way does this mean that CCS students carry the weight of the worldon their shoulders, but may be the qualifications mentioned above just need a little work"

well, i think depende naman sa tao yun,eh hindi sa college..
malay niyo merong tao sa college natin na mas masaya pa sa tao na tagaCBE..

ito rin yung sinabi dun sa article...
"Although the numbers featured here give estimates on the happiness of students in their respective colleges, it shouldn't really reflect how each individual feels toward their life inside the university. Instead of complaining, directing the energy towarsd something more constructive will alter the experience. After all, college life wouldn't be called life if it doesn't have its stressors."

    mga sadista at emo lang ang CCS, what makes us happy is the fact na we're unhappy =)) lol joke :p

    on the serious side, i actually agree on most of the results of the survey. pero i guess this so-called "unhappiness" makes us CCS students "stronger", because natututo tayo maging wais pag may mga hurdles tayong nae-encounter :) frustrating indeed, for example, yung hindi pag-spoonfeed satin pagdating ng objectp and introdb, pero in the long run, at least in my case, i learned na not everything is taught in the classroom, especially pag programming na ang usapan, because technology progresses.

    also i oberserved na compared sa ibang classrooms sa ibang buildings, in a way parang ang gloomy ng classrooms ng gokongwei. i mean, we get less sunlight in the classrooms compared to ls, yuch, sj and andrew, di ba?

    siguro para maging happy ang goks kelangan bubbly yung kulay ng building, like pink, baby blue, mint green =)) tapos may mascots sa walls =))

    Number 7 -Unhappiest (sorry pababa :P ) : Probably. :)) Hassle ang CCS eh. :)) pero hindi ako unhappy.. kakatuwa nga eh. Dami challenges... pero no time for dota unless aim mo lang 1.0 :P.

    Number 6 - Free Time : well. OO. :))

    Number 5 - Organizations : LSCS lang yung nagbibigay ng activities para sa ibang students, pero meron din naman ibang orgs. dgdl, gds, atbp. sali kayo dgdl :D

    Number 4 - Jobs : I dont think so. :|

    Number 3 - Requirements : True. Aside from depex, may mp pa tayo. tas minsan may Eng Class pa tayo kaya tindi ng cut off =P.

    Number 2 - Professors : Ok lang sila. Actually, mas ok pa yung profs sa CCS kasi bihira lang yung naninigaw at yung mabilis magalit hindi kagaya sa profs ng CLA ( According sa mga friends ko :P ). Tingin ko nga naiintindihan nila tayo kasi halos lahat naman sila DLSU graduates...

    Number 1 - Services : aaah. bulok pc sa gox. buti may ginagawa na lasalle. at dapat aircon buong gox. inggit ako sa yuch =P. tas gsto ko din may elevator tayo!

    requirements:
    hindi ko alam kung bakit kung walang MP, automatic 0.0 na. pero hindi ganun ka-laki yung percentage nia sa grade. Yung depex super laki.

    hindi man lang ako nakasagot sa survey nila. sayang.

    in terms of service, ccs is really doing its best to achieve the highest standards of excellence.

    totoo yung regarding compro na papalitan.

    requirements, ganun naman sa lahat ng colleges.iba lang ang form.
    example, sa CLA maraming babasahin, so para sa isang tao na hindi verbal-linguistic inclined, mahihirapan cya.
    kung sa CCS na maraming programming, ang isang tao na hindi logical-mathematical, mahihirapan.

    i think it's not a blanket rule na pag ccs, mahirap. it is subjective.

    regarding free time, it's logical to assume na wala tayong free time. kasi nga, research based tayo and at the same time, yung mga subjects natin, hndi cya yung tipo na matututunan mo kaagad ng lubusan sa classroom lang. kailangang i-apply. kaya laging may lab component.

    in terms of job opportunities. marami.
    sa inyo, IST palang, malaki na ang sakopy nyo. pwedeng education, multimedia going to advertising, programming din. at cyempre, basic software development.

    ganun din sa iba pang degree program ng CCS. laging may extra, may special na uniquely ours.

    ako, masaya ako sa ccs.

    hmm, pag binago na ba ang systema ng COMPRO next year edi mas madali na ito?? sa tingin ko lang, kapag nangyari ito, baka maging "less competitive" ang mga next batches dahil masayang mag-program sa C kahit nakakasabaw ito!! aun lang...

    hmph..bwiset..yan ang akala nila sa buhay CCS!!! kala nila puro lang math..ka nerdan... of course many people would find math as something intersting but that does not necesarily mean that nerd na kaagad...yan ang judgment saten ng mga tao....nakakainis...

    hmph..try nga nila mag CCS!! hahahaha...ansaya kaya ng life dito..=) i mean..wag ka nga lang mag cram..LOL...pero teka..maiiwasan ba talaga ang cramming?? =)) ahahahaha!!! that's part of being a student you know..

    and yeah..i totally agree na matrabaho ang projects natin dito..pero that's all we need..kasi ang purpose lang naman ng mga MPs na yun is for us to learn..=) *nakanaks...* we need experience..we are more on application..kasi how will you learn how to program if you will just read and read and read?? of course you need to develop software in order for you to master it right?? =)

    grabe naman..kala nila gloomy ang goks ha!! hmph..try nila pumunta ng labs..hahaha!! =)) tsaka dapat din nilang ma experience kung ano ang na fe feel natin kapag nakita na nating nag wowork ang circuits natin..and when we see our programs run perfectly..alam mo yung..feeling na gusto mo nang tumalon sa saya dahil natapos din yung project!! =)

    hmph..ansama naman..bat parang puro negative saten?? hmph...sorry to say thig..pero siguro yung mga ininterview eh mga taong hindi masaya sa com sci life?? =( haaayyy

    about the jobs?? hahaha...mas madali kayang makapaghanap ng jobs ang graduates ng CCS...here and abroad...since com sci is still in demand..

    CCS pa rin ang the best!! hahahaha =)) try nila i experience ang buhay CCS...=)) and im happy with my life here as a CCS student..

    As a shiftee from CCS to CBE, trust me, WALANG TATALO SA CCS. ;)
    Kinamuhian ko man ang programming, iba parin kapag nasa CCS ka.
    Iba kasi yung definition nila ng happiness sa happiness ng CCS people! XD
