Kamalayan! Jun Lozada @ DLSU 02/28/08

Ngaun lang ata sumikat yung Kamalayan(short for Kapihan ng Malayanag Lasalyano), its an open forum of lasallian students done ata every month. So, the topic nga is about the ZTE-NBN Scandal, and the keynote speaker is no other than Engr. Jun Lozada, the ZTE-NBN ‘Star’ Witness.

And for the first time in my entire stay at Lasalle, its my first time to intentionally cut my class. :D

Anyway, I just want to clarfy things first. I just went there because I want to see Mr.Lozada personally and to hear what he wants to say. I DO NOT SAY that I am supporting him and really I don’t support that we should go out and go shouting on the streets. I AM supporting the advocacy that we should “tell the truth, because it is the right thing to do” but I AM NOT saying that Mr. Lozada is really telling the truth, because yun nga, I am not there when the controversy happen and therefore I should not judge him. Lastly,I am not also siding with anyone, both with Mr. Lozada and the President.

Anyway, there were actually four speakers in the forum, Engr. Jun Lozada, Congresman Tedy Casiño, Bro. Mike Valenzuela, which is a brother of Lasalle, and a professor of PolSci, who answered the questions of Lasallian students, teachers, and faculties. Here are some of the questions and statements that I remember, and my comments about it.

Start with Bro. Mike Valenzuela. Bro. Mike explained the brothers' statement about the issue. He really said that the brothers DO NOT encourage people to join the rallies, and it depends to the people if they want to join them. So, therefore, even though they do not encourage people to join the rallies, they even don’t do anything to STOP them from joining them. Magkakaroon nga ng prayer rally, why not personally pray to God privately and not got to streets publicly. Sabi nga sa Mat.6:6, “but when you pray, enter into you closet, and when you have shut the door, pray to your Father which is in secret, and your Father..shall reward you openly.” Yun nga nakakaasar dun, they use the word “prayer” rally, para magmukhang maganda yung intention ng rally.

There is also a question raised to Cong. Teddy by a Lasallian student. I really love the question, it goes like this. “Pagkatapos niyo mapatalsik si Gloria, then nagvote kayu for a new president, then that president will also be corrupt, will you also encourage people to go People Power, then you will repeat the process all over and over again?!” Cong. Teddy said something like this,”Yes, magpapatuloy tayu magpeople power hangat ang malagay ng president ay hindi corrupt!” I am really irritated with that answer. Alam niyo, THERE IS NO PERFECT PRESIDENT !!! kahit anong gagawin niyo there are still people that will oppose the president, whoever it may be!!! That is the problem with people eh, THEY HAVE NO CONTENTMENT! Gusto ng mga tao that there will be a perfect president na super imposible! Bakit ang president lang ba ang me problem, bakit hindi niyo isama ang mga other government officials and i think sila pa ang mascorrupt kaysa kay president!

Ok,kay Mr. Lozada naman tayu. The question was also like one above. The question was “If you impeach Pres GMA, sino ipapalit niyo sa kaniya?” Mr. Lozada said that the question was an insulting question and he said “for all the 80 million Filipinos, you can’t find anyone BETTER?!” See??!!! I told you!!! People want a president who is BETTER or the BEST president! And imposible nga yun! Kala niyo kasi mabilis magpatakbo ng government! Mr. Lozada also explained the three mindsets of the people that he encountered while going around the schools. First, the mindset of national, middle class, and upperclass men, which stated that “Huwag na kayu gumalaw kasi wala naman kayu ipapalit” The second mindset that he said is the arrogant mindset which stated “Huwag na kayu gumalaw kasi baka ano pa mangyari at magkakagulo lang”. He said that it is imposible for the universe to be humanly controllable and he said that we should so what is right and let God do the rest. That’s true naman kasi only God can control the universe, so therefore we should rely on him. Saktong sakto sa motto ko, Just do your best, and God will take of the rest!  The last mindset that he encounterd with people is the untrustworthy mindset which stated”Huwag niyo nang galawin yan dahil 2 ½ taon na lang!” So why do you vote for that person?! Do you get my point! Those people who put a person into presidency are also the ones that will oppose him/or her in the future! Tsk tsk..

There are also times na nagpapatawa siya. There is a question, it says. “what will you do after the controversy?” Di ba kasi like Gov. Chavit Singson, who also is a witness for Estrada controversy by then, also run for senator. I don’t know if it is a joke or seryoso siya. Sabi niya kasi after ng controversy, he will open up a business of Chicken Inasal! Nyahahaha! :))

Anyway, there are really many questions that was raised to Mr. Lozada, but at one point he also asked the Lasallian people three questions. So the last question was “Anong handa niyo gawin ngaun?!” That really strike me, ano nga ba ang dapat nating gawin? He again said the question and after a while na lang nila sinabi, “Patalsikin si Gloria” tapos dahil daw Lasallian kami dapat English, “Gloria resign!” Pero yun nga, if you were asked that question what will you do? He also share the story about the a group of ROTC in the time of Manuel Quezon nung World War. There are a group of ROTC students with age ranged from 16 and they went to Malacañang and told the president that they are ready to fight for the country. Pres Quezon said that this war is the war of your parents and not your war, so he just tell them to go back to your homes. So, I’m leaving this question to you, as youths and citizens of this country, can we do anything for our country? Do we really care on what is happening to us right now or just we say parang “bahala na sila diyan magkagulo, pakialam ko sa kanila”? Do we need to do anything or manahimik na lang sa tabi?! Basta for me, what I can do is leave everything to God and bahala na Siya sa atin...

Sorry, kung medyo mahaba ito. Gusto ko lang iburst out my feelings and my comments about this. Here are also some of the pics that I got. Yung iba blurry talaga. >_<

ZTE-NBN Scandal

Kalat na kalat na sa buong pilinas about this issue, actually, at first, i'm not really aware of it. Anyway, nagtataka nga ako nung una why dlsu people keep posting message sa mga yahoo groups about this issue. Then, when I read the LaSallian recently(DLSU school newspaper), dun ko lang nalaman about what is really happening and yun pala kasangkot nga ang DLSU about this issue. >_<

Anyway, i just want to comment and share my beliefs about this issue. Syempre as a Lasallian and as a citizen of this country, it has an effect, not only to me or my fellow Lasallians, but also to all the citizens of our beloved country.

First, of all, I think religious sectors should not be involved in any political issues.  In the past with what had happen in our country, like the People Power and such, it will not succeed without the help of the religious sectors, the military, the businessmen and ordinary citizens of our country. Pero I think dapat they should be quiet na lang and for me, the thing that they should do is pray to God and ask His guidance and not go to streets and participate in rally or anything else. Kasi if they do that, they are only showing that they do not trust God, so they will use their own ‘power’ to do whatever they want to do. Its is also showing that they do not trust what is God’s will for that certain issue.

I think we should always be ready to help other people. I remember, I recently talk to one of my friends and he told me na there are people who ask his help for their problems, kaso ang dami daw niya ginagawa and naiinis na siya kasi parang parati na lang daw sila humihingi ng help sa kanya. I told him that he should be glad and not be angry, kasi at least they are trusting him with their problems. Then I told him that if someone needs help, we should think that it is a privilege, and not a pabigat for you. So therefore, I think the Lasallian brothers did the right thing to do. They only do what they think is the right thing to do which is caring for the Lozada family and giving them protection in LSGH>> La Salle Greenhills. Kasama din pala si Mike Enriquez(a Lasallian alumni) dun sa story, kasi yung isang Lasallian brother ask his help din. Yung nga nakakatuwa sa mga Lasallians, they are really helping people, kasi iniisip ng mga ibang tao, “ah, lasalle.. mayaman.. walang pakilalam sa ibang tao.” I tell you that is not true.

Third, I think that we should not judge people easily and make conclusions right away. Alam niyo, we really don’t know what happen. We don’t know if Mr. Lozada is telling the truth or not, kaya we should not judge him or the other people involved in the issue. Bakit nandun ba kayu yung nangyari yun?! So, think carefully first, and make sure that you have an evidence, before making any reactions or conclusions, kung hindi kayu din yung mapapahiya.

Fourth, I BELIEVE that we should trust God with what is happening to our country right now. This is only a new test given by God for us Filipinos. This is only a small part of His plan to all of us. We should really believe on Him, because He is the only One who could give a solution to this problem. We should also pray na matapos na agad itong issue na ito. We should not also go to streets and go shouting “patalsikin si Gloria!” but instead pray for His guidance to our country. Naalala ko din nagdedebate ako with one of my highschool friends a long time ago, kasi she believe that we should show what are sentiments are, then I told her why not put your sentiments to God, di ba?! Ano ba mapapala niyo if pumunta kayu sa rallies? Tignan niyo yung nangyari kay Trillanes, o di ba what happen?! Kasi Filipinos do not like chaos anymore, kaya pray na lang kayu and do it in the peaceful way and God will surely bless you… :D

Happy Hearts Day!

Grabe halos bumaha ng flowers, chocolates, bears and other stuffs sa buong dlsu, even sa lrt kanina, every girl ata me hawak na something for valentines! wahahaha!

Anyway comment lang ako sa Valentines day and about my love life so far and my beliefs and standards about love.. ehemmmm..

First of all, I think people misinterpret Valentines day and then associating it with love. I’ve read a history about St. Valentine and February 14 kasi is commemorating the death of Valentine and the fact that they associate love with Valentine is because Valentine was jailed and he kept sending “Valentine” letters(cards?!) to a girl who is supposed to be the jailor’s daughter. Nakalagay daw kasi dun sa letter sa huli “from your Valentine”. Some people said that the letter is supposed to be the first Valentines card to be given. Kaya yun whenever it is Valentines Day it also the day of love.

I remember, one of my friends ask me naman kung what are my views about Valentines day. Based on what ive read, Valentines day is a pagan occasion and therefore as Christians we shouldn’t celebrate it. But for me, it is ok naman icelebrate yun, kaya ng sinabi ko rin na we should celebrate Hearts day and not celebrate Valentines death. >_<

Anyway, there are lot of people still questioning me, “Oh, kamusta ka naman sa la sale, meron ka na  ba gf diyan?!” O_o Many people are also wondering bakit wala nga ako girlfriend.. hayyy.. I remember one of my friend, almost recently lang din, said to me ang TORPE ko daw! Wahahaha! >_< Some people even said me,”Siguro bakla ka noh?!” ayyy! Wahaha joke.. @_@ Honestly, to tell you the truth, if personally I really want a girlfriend, sa tingin ko meron ako nun if ever right now. (*hu, yabang!) Pero yun nga yung point eh, kasi I DON’T WANT TO HAVE A GIRLFRIEND sa ngaun. Sabi ko nga, I really want to finish college first before having a relationship with someone. “ARAL MUNA bago PAGIBIG!”

Kasi tignan niyo, if ever maggf ako ngaun, then for example kain kunwari sa labas, then the fact that the money that im using for my date is my parents money!

Another thing that I want to kasi if ever I will enter into a relationship, gusto ko is that my first gf will be my wife! Wahaha.. kahit sounds impossible pero actually I know some people who are like that. Kasi tignan niyo yung iba, sandali lang parati yung relationship nila, paminsan ilang months lang. I don’t know why people want to have a relationship agad, this is the problem with people,eh, this ‘gaya-gaya’ mentality, something like ”yung friend ko merong boyfriend dapat ganun din ako para I can show them na merong nagcare sa kin” hayyy.. ganun lang ba?! HELLO WORLD!!! Magising na kayu sa katotohanan! Actually,we don’t need a other person to “care” for us, kasi there is a God who cares for us much more than any other person can give! Kaya talaga wag kayu mamamadali pumasok sa isang relationship! I tell you TRUE LOVE REALLY WAITS! Mom and dad ko nga 30+ years old (*almost 40 na rin ata) na sila nagpakasal.. don’t worry hindi kayu mauubusan ng lalake or babae sa mundo! Just remember that God has already prepared someone for you, maybe hindi mo pa siya kilala ngaun, but someday God will reveal it to you in the PERFECT TIME!

I remember one of the youth pastors in one of our Bible studies said that it is really impossible for a person to have no crush to someone else. I dont want to use this word pero the thing that he really said is ”Katangahan na ata kung wala kang crush sa isang person”. I really cant forget that quote… yah, I mean it, everyone has a crush. Pero talaga for me the start of a relationship is friendship. Dapat friends muna kayu, kasi through that you can know each other well. Syempre all people has its good attitudes and syempre bad attitudes as well. Then before starting a relationship, you should really ask God if this person is the right person for you. Ok lang naman to pray for that person eh, and sabi ko nga God will reveal it through many ways if he or she is the right person and you really have to wait for God’s answer.

Last thing that I want to share is true love is not falling in love but rather GROWING in love. Yun nga common problems with relationships because people tend to “fall” in love to a person especially through its physical appearance and good attitudes, but when they’ve learned thei bad attitudes then hiwalay na or ayaw mo na sa kanya. So it really differs wth “growing in love”, dun people will develop a stronger relationships and ang maganda pa dun is that both persons openly share their own weaknesses and negative attitudes and through that, they can change their bad ways.

Anyway, kahit wala ako “kavalentines” today, im really happy with it! I tell you.. MASARAP MAGING SINGLE! MABUHAY ang mga SINGLE! Happy Hearts Day to all of you! Even though wala kayu ka valentines today, we could still celebrate Gods love for us because he is always there  who loves us all more than other person :D
