Ngaun lang ata sumikat yung Kamalayan(short for Kapihan ng Malayanag Lasalyano), its an open forum of lasallian students done ata every month. So, the topic nga is about the ZTE-NBN Scandal, and the keynote speaker is no other than Engr. Jun Lozada, the ZTE-NBN ‘Star’ Witness.
And for the first time in my entire stay at Lasalle, its my first time to intentionally cut my class. :D
Anyway, I just want to clarfy things first. I just went there because I want to see Mr.Lozada personally and to hear what he wants to say. I DO NOT SAY that I am supporting him and really I don’t support that we should go out and go shouting on the streets. I AM supporting the advocacy that we should “tell the truth, because it is the right thing to do” but I AM NOT saying that Mr. Lozada is really telling the truth, because yun nga, I am not there when the controversy happen and therefore I should not judge him. Lastly,I am not also siding with anyone, both with Mr. Lozada and the President.
Anyway, there were actually four speakers in the forum, Engr. Jun Lozada, Congresman Tedy Casiño, Bro. Mike Valenzuela, which is a brother of Lasalle, and a professor of PolSci, who answered the questions of Lasallian students, teachers, and faculties. Here are some of the questions and statements that I remember, and my comments about it.
Start with Bro. Mike Valenzuela. Bro. Mike explained the brothers' statement about the issue. He really said that the brothers DO NOT encourage people to join the rallies, and it depends to the people if they want to join them. So, therefore, even though they do not encourage people to join the rallies, they even don’t do anything to STOP them from joining them. Magkakaroon nga ng prayer rally, why not personally pray to God privately and not got to streets publicly. Sabi nga sa Mat.6:6, “but when you pray, enter into you closet, and when you have shut the door, pray to your Father which is in secret, and your Father..shall reward you openly.” Yun nga nakakaasar dun, they use the word “prayer” rally, para magmukhang maganda yung intention ng rally.
There is also a question raised to Cong. Teddy by a Lasallian student. I really love the question, it goes like this. “Pagkatapos niyo mapatalsik si Gloria, then nagvote kayu for a new president, then that president will also be corrupt, will you also encourage people to go People Power, then you will repeat the process all over and over again?!” Cong. Teddy said something like this,”Yes, magpapatuloy tayu magpeople power hangat ang malagay ng president ay hindi corrupt!” I am really irritated with that answer. Alam niyo, THERE IS NO PERFECT PRESIDENT !!! kahit anong gagawin niyo there are still people that will oppose the president, whoever it may be!!! That is the problem with people eh, THEY HAVE NO CONTENTMENT! Gusto ng mga tao that there will be a perfect president na super imposible! Bakit ang president lang ba ang me problem, bakit hindi niyo isama ang mga other government officials and i think sila pa ang mascorrupt kaysa kay president!
Ok,kay Mr. Lozada naman tayu. The question was also like one above. The question was “If you impeach Pres GMA, sino ipapalit niyo sa kaniya?” Mr. Lozada said that the question was an insulting question and he said “for all the 80 million Filipinos, you can’t find anyone BETTER?!” See??!!! I told you!!! People want a president who is BETTER or the BEST president! And imposible nga yun! Kala niyo kasi mabilis magpatakbo ng government! Mr. Lozada also explained the three mindsets of the people that he encountered while going around the schools. First, the mindset of national, middle class, and upperclass men, which stated that “Huwag na kayu gumalaw kasi wala naman kayu ipapalit” The second mindset that he said is the arrogant mindset which stated “Huwag na kayu gumalaw kasi baka ano pa mangyari at magkakagulo lang”. He said that it is imposible for the universe to be humanly controllable and he said that we should so what is right and let God do the rest. That’s true naman kasi only God can control the universe, so therefore we should rely on him. Saktong sakto sa motto ko, Just do your best, and God will take of the rest! The last mindset that he encounterd with people is the untrustworthy mindset which stated”Huwag niyo nang galawin yan dahil 2 ½ taon na lang!” So why do you vote for that person?! Do you get my point! Those people who put a person into presidency are also the ones that will oppose him/or her in the future! Tsk tsk..
There are also times na nagpapatawa siya. There is a question, it says. “what will you do after the controversy?” Di ba kasi like Gov. Chavit Singson, who also is a witness for Estrada controversy by then, also run for senator. I don’t know if it is a joke or seryoso siya. Sabi niya kasi after ng controversy, he will open up a business of Chicken Inasal! Nyahahaha! :))
Anyway, there are really many questions that was raised to Mr. Lozada, but at one point he also asked the Lasallian people three questions. So the last question was “Anong handa niyo gawin ngaun?!” That really strike me, ano nga ba ang dapat nating gawin? He again said the question and after a while na lang nila sinabi, “Patalsikin si Gloria” tapos dahil daw Lasallian kami dapat English, “Gloria resign!” Pero yun nga, if you were asked that question what will you do? He also share the story about the a group of ROTC in the time of Manuel Quezon nung World War. There are a group of ROTC students with age ranged from 16 and they went to Malacañang and told the president that they are ready to fight for the country. Pres Quezon said that this war is the war of your parents and not your war, so he just tell them to go back to your homes. So, I’m leaving this question to you, as youths and citizens of this country, can we do anything for our country? Do we really care on what is happening to us right now or just we say parang “bahala na sila diyan magkagulo, pakialam ko sa kanila”? Do we need to do anything or manahimik na lang sa tabi?! Basta for me, what I can do is leave everything to God and bahala na Siya sa atin...
Sorry, kung medyo mahaba ito. Gusto ko lang iburst out my feelings and my comments about this. Here are also some of the pics that I got. Yung iba blurry talaga. >_<
