Cory Aquino's 77th Bday Commemoration

As part of the commemoration of the 77th birthday of former president Cory Aquino, a statue of the late president was unveiled beside the Ninoy Aquino statue in Roxas Blvd. cor Padre Burgos St. in Manila.



Mayor Alfredo Lim of Manila led the unveiling of the statue with Sen. Noynoy Aquino and Sen. Franklin Drilon.







Some distinguished guests also arrived in the unveiling of the statue, like Danding Cojuangco, brother of the former president Aquino, Emilio Yap, owner of Manila Bulletin and Manila Hotel, and Bro. Armin Luistro and Bro. Bernie Oca of De La Salle University-Manila and others.



The said event was also attended by students from different schools, members from different organizations as well as employees of the Manila City Hall.

Remembering Cory 01/25/10

cory bday remembrance pa rin..
this time sa ateneo naman

*grabe, i think this was my 3rd time to visit Ateneo..
yeah, the last one i went there is when i took the ACET.. *ateneo entrance exam last 3 years ago..
*omg.. memories.. pero still malaki pa rin galit ko sa kanila.. hahahaha

about 50 students(including athletes, student council members and people from different orgs) + some brothers- Bro Armin, Bro Oca, and Bro Rolly, went there.. *haha the archers on the eagles territory!*

anyway, the program started with a mass led by Biship Soc Villegas..
afterwards some refreshments
then a program about Cory's life was shown through some interpretative dance and AVPs

one part of the program is the unveiling of the Dedicatory Marker for the Centennial Building of DLSU led by Bro Armin and Bro Oca.. *weirdo unveiling of marker at ateneo.. bwahahahahaahahaha*

nakita ko rin yung dalawang idol ko.. waaaahh..
yeah! si Jose Mari Chan and Noel Cabangon.. *though nakita ko na si Noel Cabangon a lot of times..
*syang nga hindi ako nakapagpicture with Jose Mari Chan, kasi umalis kami agad..

*namigay din nung "The Filipino Is Worth Dying For" na baller, kaso hindi ako nakakuha.. waaaaaaaahhh.. *do anyone of you know where could i get it?* i seriously WAAAAAAAANNNT it.. :((

Campus Journalism Awards 01/23/10

cja is annual competition of journalists from different lasallian schools organized by Green and White(the one who makes the official yearbook of Lasalle)..

i and ian from TLS joined the on-the-spot photojournalism..
ayun we DIDNT win..
*and honestly i was really really REALLY depressed last night..
~kahit 3rd place lang siguro masaya na sana ako..

the theme kasi of this year's competition is
"restoring the pride of filipino through journalism"

yung rules kasi you need to take pictures within 1 hour and 15 minutes then submit your 2 best photos to them after..

so ito yung sinubmit kong 2 photos..





afterwards we layout it sa isang illustration board..
after the layouting we stayed sa isang yuch conference room for hours waiting for the results.. and ayun we LOSE.. :((((((((((

sa sobrang disappointed ko kagabi i list down..
10 reasons/possibilities why i LOSE:

1. Nadisqualify yung isang photo ko..
~ i really am not sure about this.. kasi i took a shot of a mother and a kid dun sa me south gate with a jeep background.. *tuwang tuwa nga ako kasi nasaktuhan ko sila andun

according to the rules, someone from G&W will accompany us around school and within campus yung pic.. *nagpaalam naman ako kung pwede sa south gate and they said oo naman daw.. and technically south gate is within the campus *feeling ko kinonsider nila yun as outside na*

kasi yung photoeditor ng Benildean, sumali din, and he has a photo of Agno na sa tingin ko, ok na ok.. but he didnt also won..

2. The 2 pictures that i take were not coordinated/correlated
~iniisip ko kasi nung una i judge yung 2 photos as separate ones (so i thought you have 2 chances of winning) yun pala magkasama na sila.. *so ano naman connection ng jeep with a man praying*

3. Not-so-good-Captions
~ok i mean it.. i like taking photos, pero i really suck on making captions..
yung captions ko.. Dyipni- Tatak Pinoy, Gawang Pinoy.. and Pananampalataya-nagbubuklod sa bawat Pilipino.. @_@
tapos yun nga kailangan coordinated yung photos pati sa captions..
iniisip ko nga kagabi dapat pala niloko loko ko na lang..
something na.. "Ang buhay ay parang dyipni.. blah blah blah.. at yan ang maganda sa bawat pinoy kasi tayo ay tapat sa Panginoon"

4. Nasobrahan sa Layout
~meron pa kasi akong paarte arte sa layout..
lahat kasi illustration board + marker + glue lang ginamit
eh kasi ako me dyaryo pa na ekek na dinagdag
*eh andoy, yung mga judge mo tagaG&W and their strict at it*
though sabi nila, hindi daw kasama yung layout sa judging criteria, yung photo lang mismo..

5. im bad at conceptual photography
~ito rin kahinaan ko pagdating sa TLS.. paminsan i really find it hard coming up with a photograph na me theme..
siguro nasanay kasi ako na "taking pictures kung ano yung nakita mo, then shoot it"..

6. The judge(s) are not *toot*!
~ayoko na magsalita.. *basta secret na lang yun

7. i just Dont know/understand what they want
~waaahh.. hindi ko alam kung anong photos yung gusto nila.. *kaya gusto ko tuloy makita yung photos nung nanalo*

8. Overconfident
~yah.. *buti nga sa iyo andoy* feeling ko kasi ok na yung photos..
*kasi yung mga photos na yan, its a matter of waiting/saktuhan before you can come up with those shot.. so im thinking it may be unique if compared to others..

9. Masyado lang talaga magaling yung kalaban
~hmmm.. yung isang nanalo ng first place, 2 years na daw siya nagphophotography *dalawa kasi nanalo ng first place*

10. Wrong goals
~me plano kasi ako that day.. *secret na rin yun* ayun naging kabaligtaran tuloy.. kainis talaga

actually, medyo nagsisisi rin ako somehat yesterday kung bakit sumali pa ako..
i supposed to have 2 shoots that day at isang meeting..
pero kinancel ko na lang yun lahat at pinagpalit yun lahat para diyan..

pero it was an experience though.. and i met new friends anyway.. :)
