*whoo its been a while since i last blogged.. @_@
loko loko talaga ako, magbloblog lang ako if there is something na me issue.. pambihira.. :))
just opened my email earlier kasi and saw a post from Litratoz Guild..
here's the post:
"yes, TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) has finally drafted or shall i say finished outlining the curriculum for the TESDA Accreditation program for photography. Yes, There is already a certification for photography. TESDA was helped by FPPF Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation in draffting the curriculum and last nov 4-5 the first accridited photographers in the philippines are given certificates which are fppf members or atleast most of them are. It is stated and i qoute from Joseph Galian's report on FPPF
"Here is an axiom: you don’t need a TESDA certification if you think that you don’t need it. The government isn’t a “Big Brother” to hound you for a photo license every time you touch a camera. It’s still a free world here with an open market economy so there is no need to feel “guilty” or “incompetent” if you don’t have certification. And no self-righteous TESDA-certified photographer has the right to look down upon “unlicensed”, self-taught photographers – be they hobbyists, amateurs or pros. Heck, Ansel Adams didn’t have a TESDA certification, yet we respect him and his artworks. I hope the point is driven: it’s not TESDA’s fault if they finally realize that photography is a valid vocational course. It is up to all photographers and educators to see to it that Photography NCII is refined and update the syllabus, and, maybe in the future promulgate Advance Photography NCIII!"
But still, we are people in a sociaty. There have been discrimination between DSLR users and point and shoot users and that is a fact. And now this? I am not against this but it will bring edge to aspiring photographers who wants to go professional. But...
However, there is a short cut in this assistment. One doesn' need to undergo the examination for accriditation. You can create your portfolio. But right now. there is no exact outline on what the portfolio you will pass to TESDA is acceptable. Since photography is a vague subject there are some things that needs to be polished in this new accreditation process that TESDA has implemented in accrediting professional photographers.
personaly for me... it started when even in public places you need permits to be able to have a photo shoot or worst actually pay a per hour rate to shoot in intramorous. Now this? TESDA Accriditation. Next thing I know PRC will step in and its no longer skills accreditation.. but a licensure exam to be tagged as a professional photographer. LOL"
(*ey, i just copied it lol.. it doesnt mean i do agree with it or disagree with the post...
maya kasi magwala kayo dito sa blog ko, wahahah.. :P)
anyway, so i became curious about it and research more about it..
*thanks to google and saw some posts about the said news..
based on my research(err.. google.. hahaha), the plan was started i think since last june 2007, or maybe earlier pa..
i saw some threads on dpp(digital photographer philippines) about it..

i think the thread discussions started from Photo.net post
http://www.photo.net.ph/blogalicious/2007/06/03/tesda-preparing-certification-for-philippine-photographers/
im searching through google what happened to the plan between 2007 to 2009, but i only saw the recent post of Joseph Galian, from FPPF, that the plan was finally drafted already..

then another googling.. and found TESDA's Training Regulations for the said photography certification..

my comment?
actually, i dont know what to comment.. wahahaha.. i dont know if its good or not..
maybe i think it has advantages for some people, but also has disadvantages for some..
its up to you to decide whether it is good or not..
i just posted this blog to inform other people, especially photographers out there, that there is already that certification(but i think its still on process pa rin)..
nagulat lang kasi ako kanina na meron na palang ganun.. whooooo..hahahahaha

i dont know if there is a difference between "certification" and "licensure"..
ReplyDeleteim not sure if i get it right.. @_@
That means ba pag may certification na. Libre na sa lahat ng permit? On my point of view. Being a photographer is a artistic gift. Just need to enhance and di na kailangan pa ng license. Magmumukha lang politika ang Photography Industry nyan.
ReplyDeleteoh ganun ba yun?

ReplyDeletei agree on this one dapat gnun pag mag bibigay sila ng acreditation kc unless otherwise para san pa ung license natin db?
ReplyDeletee panu pag may kinuha tyu na ayaw makita ng government e d kukunin nalang nila mga license natin in a way parang anu tyu controlled dapat nila kung anun shots natin,
just my 2 cents on this manner
becasue being an AB communications graduate that same thought was imposed on us if our course should also get a license e d pag tinira namin ung government may karapatan sila kunin ang license natin db?
woah! must find more info re this
ReplyDeleteyep yep. its unnecessary. artists don't need artist certifications, right? lol
